Public Domain Song Lyrics and Recordings:

PUBLIC DOMAIN SONGS: Include songs which are 94 years old or older. Song lyrics can be published without copyright fees. Song or Video Recordings can be recorded without copyright fees.

COVER SONGS: These are songs which are less than 94 years old. Live Stream Recordings can be made, but CD and Digital Music Recordings would require copyright fees. Cover song lyrics can be published on a website, but to publish them in a book would require copyright fees.

LIVE STREAM RECORDINGS ON YOU-TUBE: Cover songs (Not in the Public Domain) can be recorded Live Stream without paying copyright fees as long as they are not monetized. When recording a Live Stream Video, it is a good idea to include a Disclaimer in the Description. If the song being recorded live stream is in the Public Domain, then document that in the Video Description. If the song being recorded is a Cover Song, state that the song is being Live Streamed for fun and that you aren’t making any money off of it. If you do make a recording of a Cover Song for money, then copyright fees need to be paid.

A GOOD RULE OF THUMB: is, if you have a You Tube Channel with Cover Song Video Recordings, and you are close to obtaining 5,000 subscribers to your channel, you would need to delete all your Cover Song Video Recordings and just have Video Recordings of songs in the Public Domain. The reason is that video recordings can be monetized when you channel reaches 5,000 subscribers.

SPECIAL NOTE:

When you are on a cruise ship there is usually a gambling casino somewhere on the ship. When the ship leaves port and gets far enough out to sea, they enter what is called “International Waters.” When you enter into International Waters, you enter into waters that are not occupied by any nation in the world, therefore you are not subject to any country’s laws. That is when the ship opens up the casino. The Internet is International Waters and not necessarily bound to any country’s laws.

Google Images:

The drawings in this book were constructed with a Windows 10 Computer Program called Microsoft Paint. Images used in the drawings were mostly Google Images. Let’s say, for example, if a person wants to use a cat or a dog in his/her Microsoft Painting. He or she would go to http://www.google.com, and then enter “Cats” or “Dogs” in the Google Search Bar and then enter. When the results of the search are displayed, the person then finds “Images” displayed at the top of the page and clicks on that. Then there will be a whole web page of cats or dogs to choose from. The person then chooses which image he or she wants, and then uploads it on his or her hard drive. After uploading it on the computer hard drive, the person pastes the image wherever he or she wants it on the drawing.

Most of the clip art I used in my drawings were googled images which I didn’t create myself with Microsoft Paint or any other software program.

All songs in this song book are in the Public Domain

IMPORTANT NOTES: For special clip art such as Disney Clip Art, you need to do more than document that the clip art is not yours, and not created by you. You need to have a “Written Agreement” with the Disney Corporation or companies such as Dr. Seuss, Peanuts/Charles Schultz, or Hanna Barbara (Examples) For song lyrics of “Cover Songs (Not in the Public Domain)” you would also need a written agreement and most likely, you would need to pay copyright fees.
